It started with coffee
Back in 2016, The Coffee Counter's founder Taha, was working for a non-profit where refugees were learning practical barista skills.
Being around coffee planted the idea of creating a mobile coffee cart to pop up at markets, festivals and community events.
That idea became our first coffee cart.
The first cart
It started on a footpath outside a corner store.
The first Coffee Counter cart was set up outside Taha's father's corner store, serving coffee to locals in the morning before work.
Back then, the plan was to take the cart wherever people gathered. Markets, festivals and community events. That was the original vision of The Coffee Counter.
The event that changed everything
When Taha’s sister asked him to make coffee at her engagement, the cart was brought along to serve coffee at it’s first ever private celebration.
And it was a hit!
People gathered around the cart, watched the coffee being prepared, chatted while they waited and came back for another. The coffee wasn’t just something being served, it became part of the night.
That was the moment the idea for The Coffee Counter changed. Instead of taking the cart from market to market, the idea was now to bring the café experience directly into weddings, celebrations and events.
Ten years later
What started with one coffee cart has grown into a team serving thousands of events across Sydney and over 500,000 cups of coffee made.
From weddings and private celebrations to workplaces and events for some of Australia's biggest brands, a lot has changed since those early days on the footpath.
But the idea at the heart of The Coffee Counter is still pretty simple.
